“THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON’T THEY?”–MOVIE REVIEW, IN EUGENE, OREGON,(NEW FILM CAPITAL OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST! )??

here it was,a day or so after Memorial Day, at the end of May and lo and behold; it went and rained for several days. Wonderful! We sure need the water. Not joking. But anyhow there were Carolyn and I, sitting around not doing anything, when we saw the advertisements for the local movie festival, international shorts, and animated shorts, and the cost was about $10 for one afternoon, and $15 for one evening. That was a lot of money now.

“where the hell do they think we are, California?” Said Carolyn, nastily. “Everybody here is either very rich or very poor, nothing in between. But most of us can’t afford $15 for an evening of short movies.” “Yeah,” I replied, as we sat there and swilled our tea. Meanwhile, the huge development next-door of cheap little houses, next to me was still going on, although it had paused for the rain. I would soon be hunting up somebody to put up barbed wire fences on my side, right next to them to keep all the hordes of swarming new inhabitants on their side – – along with their kids and dogs.and problems. I had enough of my own.

“You know”, I said to Carolyn, musing,” I do need to buy a shotgun. I mean, one of those you don’t have to aim very well when they burglarize you, and several people come in; guys tell me, you don’t have to aim a shotgun, you just pointed in their direction and pull the trigger – several times. I know I know, it’s still not legal to saw it off, just don’t let them catch you with it.” “They used to have shotguns at Bi-Mart,” returned Carolyn, bored.

“Yes,” I said, “but how is that going to look on my tombstone? “This person was armed by Bi-Mart”! That’s no kind of a eulogy! That’s like saying, everything you buy from the NRA was manufactured in China!”

and the last thing you need, for protection, is a firearm that was made in China. I think that’s an oxymoron. Or some kind of moron!   anyhow, on to our vital subject of the day.

“I picked up an old movie I bought, long time ago, and it was sitting in the dust of my closet,” said Carolyn, grabbing her purse,” because I knew we’d be bored today. It’s called “they shoot horses don’t they?” and it has Jane Fonda in Michael Sarazen in it.I don’t think I ever watched it.”

“okay,” I said, looking at the DVD; and turning to pop it into the viewer. “This is supposedly set in the 30s during the depression, and it’s the story of, from the book, people in a dance marathon; which then was a way of making a living, or winning some money; all these very famished and broke people, were in this dance contest, with a partner, to see who could last the longest; (they had an audience who paid to get into see them suffer) and a couple that lasted the longest, outlasted everyone else, they got $700 apiece. (According to the story.)”

“You can take this story as the direct , straight story from the book. And you can analyze that, as I had parents myself who went through the depression, couldn’t find work, got really broke, and my mom dad lost his farm, could pay for the mortgage, and had a heart attack. It was really rough for ordinary people during the depression. A lot of people lost everything.

Just like now!

(well, according to technicality, that was a “DEPRESSION”, where everything FELL – – including all the prices of everything, everything in the country FELL. The stock market FELL. There was NOTHING LEFT.

“now, what we have now is a “RECESSION” which is very much like a DEPRESSION. Although technically it’s a recession, because there are still VERY HI PRICES, all the other characteristics of the depression hit this era. No jobs, no companies, no industry, everybody going broke, all the businesses going broke.lots of people are homeless (yes, during the depression, lots of people became homeless, “hobos”, people who rode the rails, looking for jobs in every state, and camped outdoors.)

“Yes, indeed they had homeless!people starved. a good example is the movie about the boy who became a jockey, and rode a famous horse; his family had given him up, they couldn’t even feed him or house him.)People who had saved, or invested, got a letter in the mail saying they had lost everything.(that is very similar to what economically has happened now. People’s investments failing completely.)

“why are you getting into this economics explanation now?!” Moaned Carolyn. “This is a movie!” “Yes, but I have to give the background, because people who have never been through a real depression, don’t understand what it’s like. It’s like DEATH. There is no hope. In fact, the depression only lifted, when the United States went into World War II, produced lots of armaments, airplanes, bombs, firearms, soldiers, ships in the shipyards, and everything else that made the economy boom.

“That is how we got out of the depression. WAR.”.  .“it doesn’t seem to be doing much for us now,” groused Carolyn; “we go into  war after war after war, and it never ends, the economy just gets worse!” “I’m glad you mentioned that,” I said. this is a  different situation. World War II was temporary, it lasted quite a few years.

“Now, we have endless war. Because, we are warring for all oil, as are all the other countries competing for the last  resources of oil! And that becomes an endless war.” “This is getting to be a history and economics lesson,” mentioned Carolyn. “Now can we get onto the movie, since we know what the depression was like?” “Of course, sorry for becoming a schoolteacher again.” I said..

BUT, here are the characters in “they shoot horses don’t they?” One of the couples is a man and his wife and she is very pregnant; the Jane Fonda character, who’s very broke and desperate, and Michael  Serrazin-character, who’s also young and broke, and a couple of other characters; imagine them all in a horrible carnivallike noise, and dance floor, with a dance band, and the manager yelling constantly “YOWZA, YOWZA!!”. And they are not allowed to stop dancing, except for a few breaks. They even have to eat standing up and dancing.

Grueling, exhausting, painful, desperate; and being watched by an audience, who paid to get in to see them suffer. Everyone running, trying to keep from being eliminated, and being the last couple to win the huge prize. Jane Fonda’s character is our viewpoint, of a hopeless life, characterized by nothing but struggle, and, as she comments “I never win! I always lose!”    

Her efforts to get into the movies, are stymied by unapproachable casting department; in other words, she knows that life is rigged for her to lose – ahead of time. No matter what she does, it’s all planned out for her to fail, struggle desperately, and be miserable. And all these desperate couples, dancing as if their lives depended on it, have nothing else, no place to live, no jobs, even the three meals a day are better than nothing.

That is a good picture of the Depression, but it’s also a picture of life itself.the Moody, dark, and maddening atmosphere of the dance contest, condemns everyone to die (red buttons character literally dies on the dance floor) lose and be thrown out of the dance contest, or, like the cute little British actress, get all her makeup, her belongings and all her dresses stolen– – and go mad. Even the boss himself, is cynical and dishonest, rigging the dance contest to fail even for the winners.     

Michael Serrazin, who is Jane’s dancing partner, tries relentlessly to be optimistic; at one point, dancing alone, he struggles to stay in the sunshine coming from the open broken window onto the dance floor; but inevitably as the sun moves, the sunlight retreats. One of the Jane Fonda’s character’s biggest pains, is watching the pregnant woman refuse to quit the contest, insisting on having the baby eventually, and keeping it. Jane asks her “if you keep the baby how are you going to feed it?” And the husband growls at her, and looks threatening, but refuses to answer her question.and Jane sneers and growls back, “sure, bring another little sucker into this world!”  

the moviemakers, and the books author view the world in this way, and it is true; most of life is hard, miserable, struggling and desperate for most people in the world. You work and work hard, and in the end, you’re left with nothing. That indeed was the lesson of the depression; life is rigged for you to fail ahead of time, and there’s nothing you can do about it. So how you handle it, is up to you. You can optimistically view it as some day turning a corner in your favor. Or you can view it as something you want to stay with, despite the difficulty,because the alternative is to give up, and LEAVE.– and staying alive, is pretty much all you have. The alternative is final. Just as the end of the movie is. (And we will not give away the ending)”    

“wow,” side Carolyn, as the last credits roll at the end of the film; “that was really depressing and sad! But you’re right, it was a very good movie.” And she added, “thank you for not explaining and telling the whole story, and the ending, and just writing it down for your blog. Boy do I need a lot of really sweet ice cream with fudge on after that!” “You’re right, it’s a good movie,” I replied, looking in my coin purse; “which fast food outlets you want to hit? Where is that place over in Springfield? At midnight they have super fudge Sunday’s or something?” “I think that’s only on Saturday,” replied Carolyn. “Don’t worry, this is Eugene they’ve got plenty of fast food and bad food sugar oil and fat and carbs; this is not the fish  capital of the world anymore.”

If there is one thing to do on memorial Day, besides celebrating your country’s right to keep throwing it’s citizen-soldiers into repetitive foreign wars,  its your right to bitch about the following:

EMPLOYEES OF CIVIL SERVICE, COUNTY,STATE, & FED. WHO DON’T HAVE TO DO THEIR JOBS, AND DUMP IT ON THEIR CLIENTS, you, the tax-payer.:

AND RELATIVES WHO SHARE FAMILY-BUSINESS WITH YOU, AND REFUSE TO DO THEIR PART OF IT, DUMPING IT ON YOU, the fuming relative who has to share their bad, because you are legally both stuck in “family business.”:

These two classifications of irresponsible ass-holes are whom we are going to bitch about, today, because, frankly,  we can’t control or influence either of them or make them do their jobs.,No one can make them do their jobs, unless by some miracle you can get them fired.—and the only way to fire an irresponsible ass-hole relative, is to put a curse on them, and then hire a hit-man. Most of us don’t have that choice.

Even harder to get rid of, fire, or kill, is what my neighbor is stuck with; a home-care worker from Senior & Disabled, of Lane County, who works for the state and Lane County,& keeps taking multiple days off, while insisting she still gets paid for it.’Yes, sounds rediculous. doesn’t it? Ask my old neighbor, who is very dependent on her worker, and watches her go on vacation, while she is collecting her checks, and there is nothing she can do about it.It is the way Lane County social services works.

WHY?   BECAUSE IT’S CIVIL SERVICE,Even though the worker gets paid peanuts. she has a very dependent client, who doesn’t complain; there’s no help for it.The home-care workers do it, and thumb their noses.,So Carolyn and I go over to her place, help her out, and take up the slack.

We like our old neighbor, and hate to see hr stuck without help(again) because her home-care-worker is so head-strong, impossible to control, and refuses to let anyone stop her from doing anything, She hates working for a living, so she dumps the clients as much AS SHE CAN. Enough said.  Taking days off from work is par for the course, she still gets paid for them & you can’t stop her. She’s an ex-drug addict, and she still does whatever  she wants to do.

Hard habit to break, when you’re off the drugs, and still want complete freedom. 

This is the state of the American worker; they want a job, but they hate to work.It disturbs their personal life.Work interupts their many incoming cell-phone calls from their kids, their personal business,  their ex-husbands, and their Mah-Jong game players; it gets in their way.They get paid a low wage any way, they owe thousands in debt. , so they don’t really make good employees; they have too much personal business that gets interupted  with work..

 If they can get their client or boss to fire them, they get unemployment, which is more than they make on the job.,So heck, get the  client or boss to fire you, hon!!

The best  way to avoid this home-care worker is; don’t get  old;don’t get disabled, and be sure to get nice & rich. Have very high quality insurance, not Medicare or Medicaid. DON’T GET GOVT. INSURANCE!! it leads you straight to civil service workers.  If all else fails, you can opt for an early death. 

No. 2. on our list:SHARING FAMILY BUSINESS WITH A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS TOO BUSY TO HANDLE THEIR SIDE OF IT: That puts their part of the responsibility on you.However, this is MOOT. If their part of the business, only effects THEM, THIS ONE IS EASIER; LET IT GO TO HELL.  LET THEIR PIECE OF THE PROPERTY JUST GET NEGLECTED, THE WAY THEY  WANT.

If it results in later, their problem gets their part of the property becomes impossible  to sell,  what’s it to you?  Why are you worrying about a brother or sister who stays separate, and too busy to protect or sell, manage the property, just forget they are related to you. THEY ALREADY HAVE!! JUST return the favor!! Especially when you are getting bent out of shape about it!!  Get drunk, take sleeping pills, take dope, heroin or/and thorizine!   

STOP TRYING TO SAVE THE FAMILY BIZ-MESS!! STOP TRYING TO CONTROL ANYTHING!!  LET IT ALL GO TO GOD DAMNED HELL!!!  LET THE WHOLE THING SLIDE!!—RIGHT INTO THE SAN ANDREAS FAULT!!

Give these solutions to the above problems a chance!  Take a class in stand-up comedy, and guest on radio station 1450 all comedy,station, Eugene Oregon, Find Benjy!! HAVE FUN!! DRINK FLAVORED VODKA RIGHT ON THE AIR!! GET SOUSED WITH YOUR HOSTS, AND PLAY STRIP-POKER, AS YOU TAKE CALL-INS FROM LISTENERS!! LAUGH AND GET TIGHT!!  LOSE CONTROL!!

THAT is the real solution to the above problems; get over it, and admit you have no control over these people!  they are narcissists and their world only revolves around them!! you cannot control drug-addict civil-service workers; you have no control over self-absorbed,  idiot relatives!!

The 2 situations WANT TO GO TO HELL; LET THEM. IF YOU GET TOO ANXIOUS. BUY A RIFLE, AMMO, TAKE THE RELATIVE AS HOSTAGE, AND WHILE YOU ARE WAITING FOR THE COPS, SHOOT  THEIR TOES OFF ONE AT A TIME. TURN THE CIVIL-SERVICE WORKER IN FOR DRUG-SMUGGLING TO THE COPS, PLANT THEM  ON HER IF NECESSARY. 

AND if the construction next door, is shaking your house, fire-bomb the whole lot tonight. Don’t miss any workers on the work-site; bring a few grenades. 

That is how you settle abuses on you, in Eugene, Oregon. Blow them up and forget them. You can get plenty of rest in prison.  And why worry about Eugene? Or anyone in Eugene? They don’t worry about YOU. They are too busy abusing your rest, peace, ignoring their jobs, and still getting paid for them. And dumping their shaking tractors vibration on your house all day long! Nights are for dynamite. Dy-No-Mite!!yahhh-ha!!!

You’ll never feel sorry for anything you do, again. That’s the Eugene Way!!   🙂

“MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT AVAILABILITY IN EUGENE, OREGON: IT’S CRAZY.”

In past posts we have discussed the schizophrenia of Eugene Oregon. Now if you don’t mind, we will discuss mental health in Eugene Oregon. It does seem there are a lot of very crazy and mentally ill people here. Why is that? Well, Eugene Oregon puts up with it. Kind of like, if you go to France, it is said that the French don’t mind having very difficult personalities living there, among them. They put up with extreme eccentricity.and in Eugene, we are very liberal (you will excuse the word) about being tolerant to those people who are skating over the edge, frequently falling over it. 

I am not sure whether or not that is a criticism or complement. It’s true that all kinds of mental illness now, are more prevalent than ever probably because of our crazy and stressed-out society and nation– not to mention the world at large. For example, high up leaders in corporations, who decide who to fire, and not, and decide to get rid of 2000 workers at a time, because it’s financially wise, actually are psychotic because a lot of them don’t have any conscience. When they get rid of those 2000 workers, it doesn’t occur to them, mentally or emotionally, that those are real people. So some of the worse psychotic people are heads of a lot of the employment and business in the United States.  

What we’re saying is, mental illness is extremely prevalent in the nation. We’re not sure about the rest of the world (probably even more so, look at the middle east and Russia!) Some oldsters in the Middle East, believe in magic, and transcendent magical spirits. They haven’t graduated to Western science yet.and they believe that these magical methods have an effect on their real world.  

Now if that isn’t spaced out, I don’t know what is.it makes the mental illness of America look like NOTHING. Those people aren’t even in contact with reality yet. (Of course, the current president of the United States, is not either, but that’s a different case. Kind of. Well, maybe not ;maybe just the same.it’s very hard to judge when it’s that close).  

However, we have to get back to mental health treatment in Eugene Oregon. I am not against the mentally ill; then I would be against myself. I have a record of PTSD that makes a war veteran look like a pansy. I’ve been dealing with it all my life, and I even have to take neurological medication for my brain. Of all the treatment I’ve ever gotten, the neurological medication has helped more than anything!   

Ask my sister what I was like, before I got on it years ago, and she will say “you were absolutely insane and out-of-control. That medication made all the difference in you. Now you can actually function and not be a freak.”well, I’m still a freak but at least now this freak is more in control. 

As far as how many people have mental or emotional problems, a statistic has been noted that 50% of the people who go to their medical Dr., with complaints, do not have physical illnesses.they were found to have either neuroses, emotional illness or mental illness that was bothering them, and they had no idea that it wasn’t physical.is your Dr. going to recognize this? It depends on your Dr. If you had mine, yes, he is extremely good, and he’s adopted the idea of “treating the whole patient”. .but it took years literally for me to find him. 

however, we are not going to use the excuse that some doctors nowadays in HMOs use; if there’s a physical illness they can’t diagnose, and they don’t have the time and don’t want to do the diagnosis, very often they will use this excuse “there’s nothing physically wrong with you I’m going to send you to a psychiatrist.” However, it really depends on if your HMO insurance CAN financially pay for a psychiatrist. 

So let’s look frankly at the mental health treatment available in Eugene Oregon, because it’s very necessary. If we have lots of homeless, and a fair amount of them have extreme mental illness, along with a certain amount of the population who are CRIMINALLY insane, a lot of these people wind up going to Lane County mental health Department. I have to give them credit, for trying so hard to help the unhelpable, and trying to soak up the population that can’t even afford to put a roof over their heads. 

I may bitch and complain about the huge amount of homeless, this County practically invites here, and insulates, which drives away a lot of middle-class not to mention business and industry, but I would be probably in that condition myself, except for my family. Anybody who can’t work now, in this nation, whether you are disabled, retired, or just unable to find work, finds it very difficult to put a roof over their heads.

The amount of homeless people that were statistically noted to be mentally ill, is pretty high,and there was no more cheap available housing they could get into.America does not have the “flop houses” or very cheap low-grade rentals, tenements, of the past. Even though the real estate industry is pretty bad off, it still has gotten very expensive, and that lets out a lot of low income folks. Even if someone works, for a very low wage (which is now very common in the United States, low wages) he would have to have several jobs just to make enough money to keep himself housed.. Some of the greatest amount of homeless now are whole FAMILIES. Not just druggies or alcoholics or the mentally ill… 

excuse me for dragging in the subject of homelessness, but that itself would very much drive you crazy, not having a place to live, living on the streets, or more likely, trying to live under a freeway overpass, under a bridge, or among some trees. I know what it would do to me; I’d be very unhinged and disorganized.(“oh my God, no TV! How am I going to watch Law and order? I’m autistic, I need to watch it every day at the same time! AUUUGH!!!”)  

It would be a complete blow to all of my self-esteem. And there have been times during my life, when I was on the edge of becoming homeless, if I didn’t figure out how not to be that way… Even when I worked full-time, I didn’t make very much money either.and all the housing became more and more expensive.

I don’t want to go into how, years ago my roommates and I had to watch an entire black family, living in the building next to us get evicted onto the streets of San Francisco, and we couldn’t do anything about it. They begged us to take them in, but believe me our landlord would not have permitted it. We would’ve become homeless also.

“there but for fortune and God, go I.” 

.as I said before, I have to give kudos to Lane County mental health; they really really try to help the mentally ill, who can’t pay to go to a regular psychiatrist. I believe they also have a pharmacy, for medication. I myself have gone there to see a therapist.  

The Problem of Lane County mental health, at least for myself,.is that it’s very hard to get an expert there who treats PTSD. I have heard that there is some kind of project, in Eugene, that’s trying to put together a clinic especially for PTSD.     

Having complex PTSD is a pain in the everywhere.watch how many veterans of war abroad, come back with extreme PTSD, because of horrible war experiences. I once met a war veteran of Vietnam, a young man, who was in a mental health system. Just because during the war, a large bomb landed very near him, and the concussion from the explosion, gave him permanent brain damage. He practically couldn’t sleep at night; in his mind, the huge,black impact interfered with his sleep.it was really serious .  

I wondered that he was in the MENTAL health section, because it was physical damage! on the other hand, it was his BRAIN. And supposedly that was what the mental health department covers; your gray mass.where does anybody’s mental illness,come  from? Yes, your gray mass! Where else do you think it comes from your spleen? I suspect that neurology was also trying to treat him.   

my main complaint, with Lane County mental health, has been that they may be rather limited in being able to give you an expert on PTSD. If you look around at all the therapists available, on your insurance,in the County and outside if you have Medicare, the most you’re going to find is social workers.very few psychologists are going to treat you on Medicare or Medicaid, and you’re definitely not going to find a real psychiatrist. The only thing that psychiatrists do now, at least in the west, is dole out medication.

.(I hear that back east, even in New York and around, they still have psychiatric analysts. Imagine going to a ANALYST. Five times a week, you pay a tremendous amount of money, to lay on their couch, and get yourself analyzed!and this goes on for years. No wonder those guys don’t want to take Medicare or Medicaid! If you are a analyst, and people back East value this so much for treatment, you would be an absolute FOOL not to take their money instead of insurance!)

Why the hell did I not go into that field myself? Not only could I get myself analyzed fully by my fellow workers, I could’ve made such a lot of money, I would never have had to face homelessness again in my lifetime. Unless of course, my building went condo..but then I’d be able to buy it.of course, if I wanted to be an analyst I’d have to stay back east. Then I could finally go visit my relatives, who were from Pennsylvania, and North Virginia, who I’ve been ignoring my whole life.

I COULD finally get to know some real New York JEWS,who I have heard are blunt, painfully honest,(although often disdainful of Westerners,)and schmooze with literary, fashion, financial, and interesting people. The Jewish people I’ve met in Lane County, especially older people were some of the nicest people in the world I ever met. Down-to-earth, humorous, and easy to get to know.and talk about FOOD.

You have not lived, unless you have eaten real Jewish food. Boy do I miss it! Right now, my sister who I talked to on the phone, has been making “rendered chicken fat”, and making chopped liver for her club. I think she calls it SCMALTZ? the woman is such a divine cook she’s got me dreaming of lox and cream cheese on a bagel. (my favorite food of all time.)Brisket. Macaroons. Honey cake. Sauerkraut. Gefilte fish. My own version of noodle kugel! That version knocked everybody on their ear, and they all wanted the recipe!

what the hell am I doing retiring in the Pacific Northwest, and not making noodle kugel for years?no wonder I’m depressed, and have PTSD. Becoming so DEPRIVED does that to you.so why don’t they have some kind of RABBI working in Lane County mental health? What’s not to like? At least a Rabbi might have you studying the Tanya, and the Talmud, taking responsibility for your own problems, and working them out.

That’s a very Chabad way of looking at it. Don’t pray to God to solve all your problems, you need to do it yourself! Boy are those Kabbalists practical. So how come they call them mystics, if they’re so down to earth?Ach, there is a paradox for you! Haw Haw.while your head is in the clouds, keep your feet on the ground.and to add to that, they also believe in quantum physics, science and technology.

Watch out, Catholics, you have finally met your match and been out –done.continuing to cling to medieval rules and beliefs, including dumping on WOMEN, is going to get you in the end. Your only good strengths is that you’re fantastically wealthy, and you’ve got your finger in every single pie in the United States and the rest of the world.while the Chabad are said to be, by witnesses, extremely kind, helpful, all over the world, to the wounded inhabitants of this globe, the Catholic Church is busy collecting lots of money, and making sure they’re billionaires at the end of the day.

You judge for yourself, which of these is a religion, and which of these is a BUSINESS ENTERPRISE.

however, once again I have strayed from my subject.But  religion and belief systems do have a big effect on  your mental and emotional state. If you are an alcoholic,  and you go to AA, and meet some really good people, you will be in contact with  what is known as a “quasi-religious” organization. Through their support, and the belief that you can “give it up to God”, many people receive almost spiritual enlightenment, enabling them to stop drinking, and start living. I’ve seen it for myself. I am a witness .they do have alcoholics anonymous in Lane County. That is a plus to a community.

I do know that Lane County Mental Health Dept,. like many parts of Oregon, is very deficient in money.Funding. Oregon has become a broke state, with few jobs,and smaller amts. of funding even for the mental health system. It is true that many other states have NO MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM at all! Los Angeles county JAIL is called something like”LA Mental  Health Dept.” That is where any one with severe problems winds up.In jail! Similar situations occur in other states; one state  picks up their young, mental homeless, and keeps them in jail, and gives them medication. They are treated as “patients” not inmates. That is the best that region can do, since there’s no other mental health care.One young patient wistfully said,”Maybe some day I could get THERAPY.”

WHERE is the bleedin’ Catholic church money, when you need it? lsn’t that what the un-holy sect is FOR? In centuries past, Catholicism sent it’s religious leaders into war,on horseback and armor,to defeat rival religions or countries. They paid brilliant artists to paint the Sistine Chapel. (OK, they supported great art!! So did the wealthy merchant class!)   But what about the rabble of humanity? Today, I’d like to know where the wealth of Rome is flowing to. The Catholic church must be aware, as other faiths are, that the state  of mental health of the people is decidedly shot, maybe more than the physical health.

Where’s the BEEF? We have a country-wide recession on our hands, and THAT & high unemployment, usually makes everybody depressed. Very depressed! Mental health in  most states, & federal, is usually last on the list to get funded. Anybody can wind up, cracked up. And private mental health practioners usually want money, a lot. Plus, the last time I looked for PTSD counseling in any clinics, I was told to get on a waiting list to get in line, for months, to possibly get an opening. There were NO  experts in PTSD who had room, who would take my insurance..  

Therein lies the rub; availability everywhere to mental heath experts who take your insurance. HOW GOOD is govt. insurance, if no one will accept it? If PTSD experts have tons of patients with MONEY, why should they have any spaces for any govt. insurance patients? If they do have a space, you can wait for months or years to get in.Go buy a couple of books on PTSD, ( I did that,) and start treating yourself. Take 5 capsules of Nuerontin, at 300 mg. apiece, instead. I guarantee your PTSD will be well-treated temporarily.  It’s the substitute for expert treatment I can’t get.    

  Go, mediocre nit-wit, and treat yourself!! Use the books, do the excercises!  This is the era of “self-help” treatments and support groups!  You’re not going to get a real PTSD  doc with credentials of any type. Maybe a STUDENT.  STUDENTS who work in the field,  freak out, & call the police on you! Students who don’t know what PTSD IS!! STUDENTS who are just using you to get their grad degree!   STUDENTS, who’s one year olds always come first!  Mental health STUDENTS who don’t know as much as your books do!

Would you let a student- surgeon take out your gall bladder? So why are you letting a STUDENT psycho-anallze you, and treat you for PTSD?  Why not just teach your DOG to do it, read him all the PTSD books, and let Fido treat your subconsious?  The price is right, and the pooch is meditating on your case. Chances are,  he’ll  do  a better job than the student , and if HE has puppies, unlike the grad student, his kids can frisk about without much super-vision.  MAN’S BEST FRIEND may be the best cure of all, woofwoof!!

I would have to say, the mental heath dept. is more or less not too bad. OK, at least it exists. It’s got that. It takes care of the dangerous people, & the homeless. It is flakey and undependable. It sometimes has therapists who dump all their patients, leave and the patients get lost for months, while Lane County Mental Health loses track of them, & does not even know who they are. (Witness.) Too bad private psychologists don’t want Medicare. I imagine the glut of OBAMACARE people, thrown onto a mal-functioning health system, is going to comparatively make Obamacare look worse than the Canadian system, or worse. Or just the same. 

Billions of bucks pumped into Obamacare, when our local Mental Health dept. staggers and all but falls. Goes without specialized staff at all. Has to refer you to out side clinics, who have long waiting lists to get in. Has no PTSD experts, so you  buy books on it, and  do-it-your-self. The private guys don’t take govt. insurance, WHAT THE FUCKING GOOD IS IT? NO, it seems that the govt. should just give us OUR MONEY BACK,IN CASH, A LOT OF IT, so we can go find real professionals and PAY THEM!! 

Are you getting it yet, everyone? all govt. also? WE NEED MONEY TO PAY FOR MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, not ass-hole worthless, govt, insurance!  MONEY TALKS AND INSURANCE JUST SQWACKS!!

NO WONDER Lane County Mental Health has the homeless, the criminally-insane-court-cases, and not much else. All the dough is sucked into “Cover Oregon,” Obamacare, and every single worthless fed. and state dept. 

I need to stop trying to get any real treatment for PTSD, and just study books on it. Call up SASS, in town, & go see them. Stop trying so hard to do the impossible; trying to get Lane County Mental Health Dept. to treat PTSD with experts on it; stop trying to wait on endless lists, to see a scarce expert;

stop trying so hard!!  Just accept trauma as unhealable, and talk to war vets, who have it, online; stop praying for miracles. Stop Trying to get Lane County Mental Health dept. to FUNCTION. GIVE IT UP. BYE, BYE, MENTAL HEALTH DEPT.!!!  Get your “grad students” some other nuts to work on!! Give up on trying to get PTSD to get ANY  BETTER!  Stop trying to get govt. health insurance to WORK!!  VOTE REPUBLICAN next time!  (In revenge, not because they will make it any better.)

Go learn to speak Mandarin, like I always wanted to. That sounds a lot better.And stop tryiing to do things I can’t do, and someday just get a brain-operation instead, so nuerologists can cut out all the damaged, trauma-brain tissue  I’ve got, or cauterize it, and heal up my warped brain from the inside out;(that includes the Amygdala.) They could always plant”standard-normal-happy-sane-ordinary-family-past-&-context-memory-patterns” in viable brain tissue,  and get rid of my miserable history. A little like the movie where the guy buys memories of a trip to Mars, even if he didn’t go. But in this case, they surgically remove all the trauma-damaged areas, and replace a happy history in the rest of the grey matter. Heck knows, I have plenty of grey matter up there. 

So how would that be, since medication also works, to have physical, bad, brain matter removed, and not have all the bad past and problems any more?Replace the gray stuff with much healthier stuff? Like pulling out all the weeds in a garden? Stop using worthless “talk-therapy” which never works?

Go in there, and GET THE ROTT OUT, ONCE AND FOR ALL!!?   It would be great. Like getting out a sick gall bladder. They do that all the time!!Why not surgically cut out all the brain area that’s sick, and can’t get healed up any other way? They do “electro-shock” therapy all the time now. They SHOCK the brain. Why not specifically analyze the PHYSICAL BRAIN DAMAGE, and trauma, and carefully cut it out?  It is possible to find WHERE it”s located.

I wonder if they are already do that, somewhere, and I should volunteer as a test subject.?   I’m not even sure if I’m serious. But I do know, when my sister had a stroke, they had to do brain surgery, and she’s mostly fine now. She functions great! I do believe the real future of mental health therapy, is to remove somehow the smallest traumatizd area of the brain, that is debilitating the patient ‘s life. .Because, THAT is the real future of mental  health.  Directly delete the damaged part of the brain causing the pain & dysfunction, replace the memory with  new, happy patterns of the past, and let neurology finally solve the problems of the sick brain that can’t be healed up any other way.

NEUROLOGISTS  OF THE FUTURE, WE SALUTE YOU!  GO WHERE NO PSYCHOLOGIST HAS GONE BEFORE! DIRECTLY TO THE SOURCE, AND CUT IT OUT! (OR LASER IT) HEAL UP THE BAD BRAIN, INJECT THE GOOD BRAIN WITH HAPPY, NORMAL MEMORIES!! (ONLY THE PART THAT IS MAKING THE PATIENT ILL.)

INSURANCE.  LEAVE THE DARK-AGED  MENTAL HEATH PRACTICES OF THE PAST THAT ARE SO MEDEIVIL, BEHIND. 

AND SEE SEVERE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE; BAD PROGRAMMING OF THE BRAIN, AND TRAUMATIZED GREY MATTER, AS REAL PHYSICAL INJURIES AND  BRAIN DAMAGE THAT NEEDS SURGICAL TREATMENT AND HEALING.

we all tend to forget our mothers,unless we never had one, or else if we did have one, we blame all our problems on our mom. This particularly is true if your mom was the dominant personality in the family and made all the decisions and did the discipline. That would count for my dad. My dad was the bad guy, but he was also the biggest mother of them all. He took my mom’s place, when she couldn’t do it which was a lot of the time especially when we were born.

so how am I going to segue into the schizophrenia of Eugene Oregon? Easy. To a lot of people, Eugene is like a big or small mother who is very liberal with you. She gives you all kinds of breaks, even though she doesn’t have much money, she tries  hard to help the underdog more than the over dog. That means, watch out if you’re middle class, you won’t get very much attention in Eugene.

I was born in Eugene Oregon and I’m a native. I did spend a lot of my adult life, in another state just so I could make a living. If I stayed here, I would’ve been broke all the time. Or I would’ve been running around in a lumber mill or chopping down trees – or being unemployed. Like now. So, the best defense against unemployment, is to not be where it is. That has always been Oregon.

– –Unless you really  like to chop down trees. Or else, you’re very rich, and you don’t have to chop them down, you only support them to be not chopped down.

that’s pretty schizophrenic, right when you look down at it. There are a lot of people in Eugene, and in Oregon who would like to have the lumber industry come back alive. It is not that there are no trees being chopped down, in Oregon it’s just that they get shipped automatically straight to the coast to China. We don’t get any of the work from the lumber industry.

some of the biggest owners of big private lumber, are the very politicians who run Eugene and Lane County, and Oregon.it’s very very schizophrenic! How can it be, that such a very liberal, Democratic, town and state, is run by people who decide not to give Oregonians jobs, while they ship all their logs to another country instead?that’s what they call a dichotomy I guess. And I don’t even know what the word means but it sure sounds like one.

 Eugene particularly can’t make up its mind on major issues. For example, all the liberals, democratic, supposedly want everybody to have jobs. But, the County and the city take a lot of trouble to make such restrictive laws, that business can’t be created here, or survive here, and no business wants to come here.

how are you supposed to get jobs with out any business or industry? The only answer to that is to work for the government.any government! The state, the county the city or the feds. They rarely fire you, and they hide the incompetency of anybody who works for them. I know this from experience, because I worked for the state of California at one time. It was flaky. I was flaky.    

the fed government is decidedly flaky. So flaky, it’s like a well-made pie–crust, coming apart in little pieces, much to a pie eaters delight (government employees and politicians) but the people who can’t get to eat the pie (taxpayers) get stuck with just a black cup of coffee. 

I am getting distracted into politics which I don’t want to do,today.I only wanted to talk about the schizophrenia of Eugene. Take for example, that Eugene really wants (part of us) to have the company Whole Foods move here.it’s been argued that this company is a good employer, good wages, and very positive .

. On the other hand, we have the “only homegrown will do” – citizens here, who despise anything that doesn’t come from Eugene or Oregon. It’s very strange because these same people often also support Africa, and people in other countries,and even illegal aliens here, before they support the United States, as far as business. You see them getting on their computers, and ordering something that is “fair trade” from somewhere else. Okay, it’s fair. Is it really fair to us?

That is the very liberal Eugene schizophrenia that goes on here all the time. Another example, is the Civic Stadium. A lot of people have decided that it costs us too much, it’s too old dilapidated, and we should sell it because we need the money. On the other hand we have the very sentimental, nostalgic people, who want to keep it as an antique.they are presently trying to come up with quite a few million dollars, so they can buy it out right.WHY? Because the city and County can’t financially afford to keep it.

Somebody else has to buy it, like an antique collector.

every time you look at the news of Eugene, or look at the newspaper, you realize there’s a lot of schizophrenia here going around. For example I looked at the front of the paper today, and it said “gifted sisters realize dreams”. There is a big photo of two sisters, smiling, who are Latino in origin. Right from high school, they got a Bill and Melinda Gates foundation full college education. That really is great. I agree.

Where were Bill and Melinda Gates, and their foundation, when my sister and I were trying to go to college, here in Eugene, and our parents were filthy POOR? They were probably glutting themselves on Microsoft. they were screwing up all our software. And they were stealing major computer software, from Macintosh. No wonder they’re filthy rich. I would be too!

it just proves that, if you’re only a small thief, you better forget it. Only the big thieves prosper.once you are rich, you can go around being a nice guy to everybody small.

one of the sisters said that her dad worked really hard, six days a week, and that reminded me of my dad. He would work several different jobs. Although in Eugene, that still doesn’t make you middle-class. The girl says, the kind of mentality they learned in Mexico, was “you have to stand up for yourself, make something of yourself, because no one’s going to do it for you.”that sounds like my families motto also.

Well, somebody else is sending them to college.In my sisters and my case, it was our dad who had to send us to college, at the University of Oregon, and the two of us worked in the Strawberry Fields, BlackBerry fields, and green bean fields, during the summer.  we worked in the canning factory, during college .we needed to, otherwise we didn’t get new clothes. I did get on the Dean’s list, once, in college, and I got a small scholarship. That helped.and we  had to live at home. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to afford it.

.I wonder what those two Latino sisters are going to do, once they do graduate from college?.are they going to have to leave the state to find work, also?. Two sets of sisters, very much alike, but in different generations, and with different outcomes.the funny thing is, my parents had always been American citizens, and nobody gave us a break like that.

one of the girls said, her parents were only recently able to gain citizenship. That means they were here, illlegally or they had green cards. Oregon is known for deciding that people who are not citizens, get all the breaks that  American citizens get.then why the heck did my parents pay all those thousands of dollars of taxes all those years, and the people who get the Bill Gates foundation scholarships, have parents who didn’t even have to be citizens?That’s really schizophrenic.

Maybe my parents should have declared that they were here, illlegally or on a green card. they would not have had to pay all those taxes and then my sister and I could’ve applied very happily to something like Bill Gates foundation, and my parents would’nt have had to pay all those thousands of bucks for us to go to the University of Oregon themselves!

why didn’t we think of that?That would’ve fixed it all!don’t be a citizen of the US, you don’t have to pay all those millions of dollars to taxes, and your kids can still go to college here, on scholarships. Way to go! I wonder if Mexico has a deal like that? Probably not. You have to come here, to find this cockeyed system.Mexico is busy getting rich off of dealing  drugs. Once again, the United States finishes last. So do it’s citizens.

I happen to know that the native Oregonians kids, who were born here, can’t afford to go to college, and have to do something instead, like go to beauty school or vocational school at LCC.in my day,  my parents could still scrimp and save, and live like church mice, and still send us. None of the native kids can do that now.it costs too much.

My advice for native kids of Oregon is, don’t go to college here; go to another country,like Asia, or even India, and go to a comparatively good college or university, that is a lot cheaper, don’t bother giving your dollars to the U of O.don’t bother giving your taxes to the federal government and the state. You are only being a sucker if you do. (I really don’t think the University of Mexico is going to accept you. Haw Haw.– or give you a scholarship. Snicker.)

Oye, Gringo, here is the rest of the Eugene Oregon schizophrenia! Eugene residents, who decide that the way we can solve all our state money problems, is raise the gas tax. So people don’t drive at all!

Get rid of University of Oregon fossil fuel investments! You’ll lose money, but you’ll feel really good about it!

And, the most beautiful of all, idea, we should put all of the homeless people into the spare new apartments, that were made for students. (Enrollment in the University of Oregon and LCC has declined.)–that will be empty. they don’t have to pay rent, landlord’s don’t have to pay taxes, and on down the line, nobody makes any money off of it.finally, everybody loses their apartments, their buildings, and everything is foreclosed. But nobody has the money to buy except outside developers. Then we lose everything to people from the outside of Oregon.

That’s really thinking EUGENE! we don’t need money, to pay for all the homeless, we don’t need money to pay for a new single-payer system, for insurance; we don’t need money for the University of Oregon, so don’t keep fossil fuel investments! We don’t need money for rehabilitation.we don’t need money for all the frivolous parks and new City Hall’

All these things will be given to us by white fluffy angels falling from the sky, and turning into green leaves. Green bucks. Environmentalism will pay for everything that Eugene and Oregon need.nobody here, in Eugene Oregon, needs industry or business, so that we can have jobs. That is a bunch of Republican propaganda.

 my favorite little bit of delightful schizophrenia, is the idea of the Eugene register guard newspaper; “nobody needs free broadcast TV in the country anymore. Everybody can just pay for cable or satellite dish, or the Internet. Nobody here is poor enough so that they have to watch commercials, just to get their networks free.NOBODY here in the United States is that POOR! not anymore! Poverty is a thing of the past in the United States!”(snicker, snicker.)

That wonderful Eugene register guard – they understand the schizophrenic logic of Eugene.they’ve used it often enough. It goes, “you do not need industry or business to make you money. It comes from fluffy white angels, out of the sky, or the government can pay for it. Everybody knows, our government is so filthy rich and successful, we can all just live off of it forever. or, just keep taxing residents in Eugene who are homeowners. Everybody knows their filthy rich too!”That is definitely a Eugene schizophrenic ideal.and it’s also president Obama’s ideal; when you need lots of money, just print up a whole bunch of it. You can PRETEND that there’s gold behind it.

For anybody who didn’t have a real mother, happy Mother’s Day anyway. Chances are, somebody had to be a  good substitute mother for you, or you wouldn’t have been able to make it.even a mental hospital can be substituted. I hear they do pretty well, because they know what you need.  And as for the schizophrenia of Eugene and Oregon, don’t worry about it. Reality usually takes precedence, when all the schizophrenic unreality falls apart. Meaning, sooner or later somebody has to pay the bills.and that person or persons get to take over, and then they become the boss.

I was just saying, to a male friend of mine, “you men are so aggressive, in all life situations; when we gave you a foot, you take a mile.” And I wasn’t exaggerating this time – unfortunately.

there’s been a lot of new building, new contracting in Eugene, building new homes. Probably with the hope that people will move into them and buy them. And right next door to me, on my right side, where there used to be a small couple of buildings in the back, that was all gone. Several developers had bought the whole lot, and now the city and county said that they could actually build 13 family homes on that small piece, right next to me. Wonderful. (Sarcasm).

the unwonderful about all this developing in Eugene is, when they develop right next door to you, they do take a foot more than they’re supposed to legally. What they do is, when they build a house right next to you on their land, they shove themselves afoot over across your border onto your land.a nice fat big wooden fence.

And then you have to send them a notice, legally,that you had to have a surveyor come out, pay him and have him legally survey your border, and find out that your big fat fence is a foot over on my land. Great. (Even more sarcasm.)

The legal way you do this is, you send the person a letter saying, you know, certified mail, “if you don’t get your big fat fence off of my property, where you stuck it a foot over on my land, you have a whole year take it off; or I can legally come over and chop your stupid fucking fence down.” Nice and polite. At this point, it’s been quite a few months in the person’s not doing anything. Well, they’re from Canada, so they think they can just glob right over your border.

I’m looking in hardware stores, to find out what kind of axe or chainsaw to rent or buy.

 behind this lady’s house, there are more houses being developed right next to my borderline of land.  WONDERFUL, FUCKING, people ! Who do these Canadians think they are?) – – The borderline has moved over, once again, onto my property by at least a foot.(My neighbor on my left hand side, a couple doors down, who’s the Oregonian, John and his wife, came over and warned me that those developers were slopping  all over onto our land, while  building. He was right. Thank you, John.)

we’re talking about the DEVELOPERS, even from Canada, who come to Eugene and Oregon, and take over the property,  develop and develop and develop. they are developing  over the surveyors legal line of your property, and right onto yours.  😦

 developers in Eugene and Oregon; they don’t know where any of the borderlines are! And they don’t care. They’re waiting for you, to call  your attorney and force them back onto their property .

in the South,  they are called CARPETBAGGERS( yes, we’ve covered carpet-baggers before)and you know what they thought of carpetbaggers in the South. Oink oink oink.

since this lady from Canada, has decided she doesn’t have to obey the law, and get her stupid fucking fence back onto her property, she’s going to force me to rent a nice sweet little chainsaw, and cut her fucking fence down.what the hell is wrong with these people? Have they ever obeyed the law of the land in their life?–and decided long ago not to obey the law,  move onto your space, knock you off it any time they like? Are these the people on the highways,who  bump you off the road violently?

when you go over there politely to tell them this, they are  nasty , act like you are the bad guy. Wouldn’t you love neighbors like that? these people also tore down all of our  barbed wire fences, that we had on our property right next to them, without asking us!  people On River Rd., Eugene, OR. They think they can do whatever they want. And they’re leaving it to you, to force them to do what’s legal.

I have to call up the other part of my family, that owns this property, and tell them ” we have to get the surveyor, to come out and look at that line, those guys who want to build their houses next  to us, are also getting on our property.AGAIN.

(You know much it costs to rent a chainsaw?)I think I might hire somebody to do it and just sit by and grin.

What I can’t understand, is the absolute fucking sheer gall,  God damn ass hole (okay, going to swear ) of these people, who were developing  homes, junk in Eugene, and they think they can  wallow  on to your place, and take a hunk out of your land ! What is going on in their beady little minds? Do they have beady little minds? Or do they have Canadian honkers in there?–that goes for the American ones too

I had already called up those guys, about their building line, in the back for their new houses, going over and they just ignored me. I think that’s exactly what’s wrong with this country now. And Oregon and Eugene. You should see the people drive their cars in Eugene;  there are no laws or rules about traffic, in Eugene, and you could do anything you like hit anyone you like, go as fast as you like, or break any traffic law .

we’re going to mention  MAYOR SHITTY Mayor of Eugene!  (and fellow politiicos) — a trend that’s really getting around, Oregon and this County of Lane,,Stomping all over your property, wrecking your neighborhood with the EMX bus line,too.

( I just read that where the new EMX line is going, that bus line and the car line are going to have to share the exact same straight Street.! I’ll be over there with a camera, watching the buses crash into the cars, cracking peoples fenders and doors.  because our wonderful counsel, commissioners,  & Mayor Shitty  decided to shove the cars off   the road.,in a very busy area of downtown, 

why do they have Disneyland, carnivals  dangerous rides, when they already have Eugene?except, when you go on the wild ride, you’re not supposed to “accidentally” crash ,onto the other ride? I guess Eugene is setting  an example.

“Nevermind somebody else’s property There is no private land! Everything belongs to anybody, in Eugene!”

that’s the liberal,ultra liberal way. Nobody has, private property or anything else! We’re so  liberal here, what anybody has, belongs to everyone .. the homeless deciding to sleep everywhere, camp downtown, or on your property, everywhere , & our politicos  decided it’s okay.

they  decided to throw them off federal property and state property, I don’t think they get the message.

You can’t go camping . building onto your neighbor’s land, and get away with it.even if you’re from Canada.  even if you’re Mayor Shitty, you can’t take –over all the driving streets, and shove monster busses on them and take it over!”

It’s the trend of things. Tons of Chinese, come into your country, buy up all your land.-All the fleeing Californicators , New Yorkers, Canadians, rush into your devalued state and country,  buy up the land.–come into your state,  buy the land, build their crappy,cracker-boxes next to you, shove their junk onto your land.

everybody in Eugene, thinks they can break all the rules and all the laws. nobody tells him to fucking stop it. Cars drive right over your foot,  into your door,  there’s no traffic cops to stop them.NO traffic laws.

. In Eugene, at least there isn’t any anymore! 

tonight I have to call up the other member of my family, and tell them, ” those ass hole carpet bag developers next-door, are still going to put their line right over onto our property, just like that dumb bitch from Canada, stuck her fence over onto it, and has decided not to move it. So you might have to get another private surveyor, to go over there, report back to you, and we have to send those guys a little letter also, saying that if they build their fucking houses, onto our land, we have the right to go over with an axe  or a chainsaw, and remove it.”

I am very aware that the rest of the world, is now casually and easily stepping over all of our borders, and we’re letting them with great haste. That’s what this is part of. It is the new trend,the rules are gone, the laws, just like in the White House lately; there’s no constitution, and there’s no amendments. “You’re imagining that, Americans!” ha ha.

Which Is making me very happy,I  rejoined the NRA, and  gave some of my friends a membership.I donated extra money to themI embrace their politics.. Thank God I’m not so god damn stupid. 

 I have to call up, finally and say, once again “that stupid fucking Canadian neighbors, developers, yes, they did actually stick their stupid building line over our back property line.and if you don’t call your attorney on them,  &  your surveyor, they’re going to build their houses over on our line.”

Wouldn’t it be nice, if all my next-door neighbors were like John and his wife, the 80-year-old Oregonian who’s so polite and helpful, and neighborly and just a really great bunch of people?  really solidly good? instead of these new crumbs, stomping on everybody,crushing all the rules?  deciding they don’t have to obey any laws ?as the Chinese would say, “foreign devils”.

I can’t think of a more appropriate title..

That’s life now every day, in Eugene Oregon. I sure miss a lot of our old friends here, like the Norwegian family on Wilkes drive, who were such wonderful people. Like John and his wife. The old Oregonians.

“TOWN-HALL, IN EUGENE, OREGON (BLAAAAH!)”

II am over at Carolyns’ house, one night, when she gets this wierd telephone call(as soon as its clear, its from Eugene and Lane county, I got on the adjacent extension, pointing at her, motioning, I wanted to listen in. She nodded “OK”.).

.”Hello,” sa8d a high-pitched voice,”This is a town-hall meeting, inviting you to call in, and ask a question to board member Faye Stewart. Would you like to join in, listen to community members ask Mr. Stewart questions?.”   “OK.” said Carolyn doubtfully.”Great, “said the high-pitched voice, “while you listen, we’ll put you in line, to as a question.It might be a little wait, there are a few folks ahead of you.”

I motioned to Carolyn, mouthing,” town-hall phone-bank; BLAAAAH” with a Joan Rivers-puke-mime. We knew what Faye the Blahh, would say; nothing!  And the council board & commissioners didn’t care what the public wanted; not this state, Eugene, or Lane County Godzilla-politicians. They  held FAKE CITY-TOWN-HALL MEETINGS, and then they raised taxes, raised utilities and waste-water  costs.

-Our fabulous liberal, Democrat straw-men did   exactly what they wanted to do, Mostly, spend money, sock it in private accts. and get really  dumb hippies, Greenies, yuppies, organic-numb-heads, and ultra-liberal Democrat residents to keep voting for them.We had a South-Eugene mansion-bunch, who ruled the city & county.Worse than California?

Since Calli  all moved here, the same. Except most of Oregon was poor,unemployed, servant-class, & liberals liked it that way. A large middle-class was too hard to push around, and they recognized signs of insanity.  And they tried to vote out big spenders.  But the poor? hippies?greenies, snotty liberal  voters?  They were already into denial of reality. And if you manage an area so that small,  & medium-size industry and business  flourish economically, you have to be in a state of reality.

.That DEFINITELY lets out  Eugene & Lane.People here cheerfully said Eugene was “wild,crazy,different, and irreverant,” but it  really meant DELUSIONAL.That is not the same as “different.” .Delusional is a town that hates business, industry, “straight-world”,capitalism,( or anyone with different opinions.Different politics were not allowed; don’t HAVE moderate, conservative, or “non-conformist” opinions.You must think,act, vote like the  Liberal Elite.

“You WILL LIKE broke, dysfunctional, Eugene and Lane county the way it is!”

And don’t forget to click your heels and salute!

But back to the “pseudo–town-hall-meeting-on-the-phone.”

Faye Stewart was droning city or county rules,laws, statutes, and dry excuses in ponderous politic-speak,  like a wind-up doll.Any moment he would dry up completely, fall apart, like a mummy. I think he could have found excuses for Hitler taking over Europe, and explained WHY the Nazis legitimately murdered 6 million Jews, and say” it’s their fault, not ours!” –and try to make it stick. Whatever the question was, he had an excuse, or promised the caller to find one. He was adamant that nothing was the ruling bunch’s fault!  The dominant rulers were doing everything right!’

“What are you going to ask?” I whispered, as poor Carolyn waited for her turn, an hour, maybe more,and we drank beer and slopped exhausted over the sofa. “Drone, drone…” droned Stewart, on and on.”I’ve got a real nice question for mr. Perfect,”  she whispered back, with a sly grin, drinking more beer.

But she wasn’t losing her cool, or acting soused; when the announcer finally called her name, she asked, “Can you tell me, why, mr. Stewart, although Lane county,Eugene, and this state have been under the capable rule of the liberal Democrats in office,for many years, this area has no jobs,no industry, no business, and no middle-class now? Besides the lumber-industry? And I don’t mean just the lumber industry. Why have all my friends & their families had to move to right-wing states, for decent jobs?”

We waited; but the droning excuse was, of course it was the fed. govts’ fault, cause of fed. environmental acts!!  It was the lumber absence!   Yeah, it was everyone elses’ fault, Oregon had  no other industry or business either, here!  Oh, and all the high Fees & taxes over every outtdoor recreation!  Beaches!  Camping!Every “free” gift of nature was NECESSARY to tax!  

TAXES, TAXES, TAXES!  “The best things in life weren’t free!”  Row-boats, all recreation!  But the small hordes of bike-riders, took over the roads, had bike-paths, and the car drivers were taxed to pay for all that extra bike-road-work,. (Someone else had asked that.) The nail got hit on the head. The MAJORITY OF VOTERS and tax-payers were made to pay for the MINORITY.

.Yeah, that’s Eugene!  The minority rules, and the majority has to pay for it. I was surprised someone else had mentioned that, too..Carolyn and I were not the only ones bugged by “the dictate of the few, over the many.”  A hunter called in, & said the state recreation dept. was charging hundreds of dollars for shooting one large  animal during hunting ssason. Even the hunters were angry at the state..The Oregon govt. really  exploited it’s citizens AND it’s tourists. At least they complained.  

While Faye Stewart droned on, that it was “never liberal policies that were de-funding Lane county & Eugene,” or Oregon economy, Carolyn tried to reply, finally got fed up, and hung up, before droning-man was finished defending the status quo.”I can’t stand this, ” exasperated Carolyn. “Nothing is ever politicians’ fault!!” “”You did really well, you can’t really talk to these guys and not get bullshit in return.”‘

We celebrated the end of the call by raiding the fridge, and got carrot-cake and left-over chocolate bunnies, and had some very chilled Coke.(The Drink.)-it hit the spot.

“Do other states act like this?” asked Carolyn, dazedly. “Uh, my friend is in Michigan, and it just turned down that Affirmative Action. You know, that ruling from the 60’s? ” I answered, munching on bunny-ears..” it also blocked acceptance of Medicaid-money-improved Obamacare. The state’ govt. can block it.” “Well, the state ends up paying for all the extra future money anyhow, on that, ” said Carolyn, looking tired.

And I had to admit, Carolyn had not yelled or gotten angry; but it  was a pointed question; if the current politics and party-rule was so great, WHY was every segment of Oregon, and local especially, economy so BAD, and in  2nd place as the worst economy in the U.S.?  Whew, only one state was ahead of Oregon in bad times. We were honored’ and it wasn”t all the fault of the Recession.Nor was it all the lumber industry; there were other industries possible here.

But the management of everything STANK. Right up to high Heaven. Not that every right-wing or moderate state was perfect. Nobody was perfect. It was just that Oregon’s rule was so morbidly BAD. A tiny piece of delusional Red China. I just hope its not the wave of the future.
